Our Story
Samved pieces are designed to be used, loved, repaired, and kept for years. We partner with small, ethical makers and artisan-led studios, and prioritise handmade, small-batch work and reclaimed materials. We choose pieces that are rooted in craft, not mass production.
Each piece is part of a limited, one-of-a-kind run, shaped by what was saved from waste.
Our story is rooted in a deep respect for Indian craftsmanship, cultural heritage, and the meaning behind the traditions that inspire our pieces. We are drawn not only to the beauty of handmade work, but also to the stories, symbols, and values that have been carried through generations of artisans, homes, and sacred spaces.
STEP 1: SOURCING (With intention)
We partner with small, ethical makers and artisan-led studios, and prioritise handmade, small-batch work and reclaimed materials. We choose pieces that are rooted in craft, not mass production.
STEP 2: MATERIALS EVOLVE (Because we work with reclaimed & handmade materials)
Our materials are not factory-perfect — and that is intentional.
For reclaimed textiles:
The fabrics available to us change over time. Colours, prints, and combinations may vary depending on what we are able to rescue.
For handmade clay and paper:
Natural variations in texture, tone, and finish are part of the making process.
What stays consistent:
• The product design
• The structure and function
• Our quality standards
What may vary:
• Colour tones
• Fabric patterns
• Surface textures
• Slight shape or finish differences
These variations are not flaws.
They are evidence of the human hand and responsible sourcing.
Each piece is part of a limited, one-of-a-kind run — shaped by what was saved from waste.
STEP 3: MAKE / COLLECT (Time to do it well)
Once a design is confirmed, products are made in small batches. We allow time for careful cutting, stitching, and finishing — especially for upcycled and hand-detailed pieces.
We prioritise patience over speed.
STEP 4: RECEIVE & QUALITY CHECK (One by one)
When products arrive, we inspect each piece individually for stitching quality, durability, finishing, and overall consistency. Handmade means small variations may exist — but we ensure every item meets our standards.
Handmade and reclaimed does not mean inconsistent quality.
STEP 5: STORY + PHOTOGRAPHY (Honest and tactile)
We photograph each product to capture true texture and colour, and we share the story behind it — the material origin, technique, and the purpose of making it.
We also share their material story — because knowing where something comes from changes how you value it.
STEP 6: STORE & PREP (Handled with care)
Products are stored carefully, organised by collection, and prepared for dispatch so they stay protected and arrive in beautiful condition.
STEP 7: PACKAGING (Cloth-wrapped, low waste)
Every Samved order is packed in cloth wrapping, and we use recycled and recyclable paper boxes wherever possible.
We keep packaging minimal and considered — a thoughtful unboxing without unnecessary waste.
STEP 8: ARRIVES & LIVES ON (Made to be kept)
Samved pieces are designed to be used, loved, repaired, and kept for years. The goal is simple: fewer throwaway products, and more meaningful objects in everyday life.
Our products are designed to mend easily and last long — and when their life ends, they can be recycled or responsibly returned to natural cycles more easily than synthetic, mass-produced goods.
Circularity is not a feature. It is the intention.
