Sustainability & Traceability

At Samved Living, sustainability begins with intention.

We believe the things we bring into our homes and daily routines should feel good, and do good too. That is why our approach centres on reclaimed materials, small-batch making, thoughtful design, and a commitment to sharing what we know about how each piece is made. Samved itself means empathy, and that idea shapes the way we think about materials, makers, and mindful living.

Our approach to sustainability

We do not see sustainability as perfection. We see it as a series of better choices, made consistently and honestly.

Many of our products begin with textiles that already exist. Reclaimed denim, reclaimed saree fabric, post-consumer jeans, post-industrial textiles, and leftover fabric are given a second life through products designed for everyday use. This helps keep valuable materials in circulation for longer and reduces the need for new virgin materials where possible.

This philosophy appears across the range, from bum bags and tote bags made from reclaimed or upcycled textiles, to grocery pouches and produce bags that support lower-waste routines, to hair accessories made from offcuts so smaller remnants can still be used beautifully. Even our denim home textiles are positioned around giving pre-loved fabric a fresh purpose.

We also make in small batches to reduce overproduction and help maintain quality. Many Samved pieces are handcrafted or hand-finished, and some use heritage Indian art forms and traditional making approaches. For us, craft is not separate from sustainability. It is part of creating products with meaning, longevity, and respect for skill.

What we can trace

We believe transparency matters, even when the work is still evolving.

We can share key details such as the material type used, artists name wherever we can disclose, product care guidance, and country of origin. Across the product storylines, many items list material details such as post-consumer jeans, post-industrial textiles, reclaimed saree fabric, natural clay, mud, or pure cotton.

Where relevant, we also note whether a piece is upcycled, handmade, vegan, or small-batch made. Several products also carry notes such as Good Market Approved, Upcycled in India, Handmade, or Heritage Indian Art form. This is part of our effort to help customers understand what a piece is made from and the kind of process behind it.

What traceability means to us

For Samved, traceability means being open about what we know now, and clear about what we are still building.

At this stage, our traceability is strongest at the product level: materials, general making approach, care instructions, and country of origin. We are not claiming full supply-chain mapping or perfect traceability across every input. Instead, we are choosing to be transparent, practical, and honest as we grow. Your current brand language already supports this clearly, stating that Samved aims to share materials, processes, and care instructions, and to keep improving over time.

Why reclaimed materials matter

Reclaimed materials help shift waste from something discarded into something useful again.

Your existing Samved language already frames reclaimed textiles as fabrics that are rescued, sorted, and remade into new products, reducing waste and the need for virgin materials. That same thinking runs through the product range, from reclaimed denim bags and runners to reclaimed saree wraps and offcut-based accessories.

Because reclaimed, upcycled, natural, and handcrafted materials are part of the process, gentle variation is to be expected. Slight differences in colour, texture, stitching, or finish are part of what makes each Samved piece unique. These are not flaws, but a reflection of thoughtful making and materials with a previous life or a handmade character.

Our commitment

We are committed to making sustainability feel practical, beautiful, and rooted in real life.

That means keeping valuable materials in use for longer, celebrating and reviving craft traditions, bringing more transparency to what we buy and why it matters, and continuing to improve as the brand grows. We would rather be honest about progress than make inflated claims.

Samved is not about perfection. It is about intention. A daily choice to live with empathy, for the planet, for makers, and for a more mindful way of being.

Packaging with purpose

Our packaging is designed to be as thoughtful as the product itself.

Our boxes can be easily recycled, and the stamps on them are hand printed and not bulk printed in a factory. Each product is wrapped by hand using handmade wraps created from end-of-life sarees or fabrics, giving existing materials another use. We also include a bookmark designed to be kept and reused, instead of adding extra marketing inserts that often go to waste.
