Artist Information

Janumi is an Australia-based artist who has been passionate about creating and experimenting with different forms of art. With a strong love for Indian traditional art forms such as Gond, Madhubani and Kalamkari, she brings these cultural expressions into her practice.
- While Living in Australia has also made her reflect on the visual connection people may feel between Indian Gond art and Aboriginal art, especially through the use of dots, lines, rhythm and storytelling. While both art forms are deeply distinct in their origins, meanings and cultural traditions.
- Janumi hopes her work can create gentle curiosity, connection and appreciation for Indian folk art within the Australian community. Through her art, she continues to grow as an artist and spread warmth and joy through handmade creations.
